Role

Product Designer (2014 to 2016)

BuzzFeed’s branded video department functioned very much like an ad agency but without a metrics dashboard, account managers had the very manual routine of printing our numbers from various sources to share with the client.

Backstage

Our in-house video producers had loft output goals to hit and adding any additional tool their workflow was met with resistance, so that’s when we got creative with our design solutions.

Video dashboard

As the team grew and as more and more specialized channels were launches for a variety of interest groups, having relatable branding that followed best practices on social platforms was a must.

Channel branding

With our Los Angeles office handling all things video and our New York office handling all things editorial, it was important to design internal tools that could keep things from going off the rails.

Internal tools

Velocity was always incredibly important at Buzzfeed, and by allocating time to create a style guide that included pre-built components that could go directly into code, we removed guesswork, increased velocity, and maintained consistency.
